A delegation of Azerbaijani seismologists is visiting the UK at the invitation of the Department of Earth Sciences at the University of Oxford in the UK.
On a visit to the UK are the Vice-President of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, Academician Ibrahim Guliyev, General Director of the Republican Seismic Survey Center of ANAS, Corresponding Member of ANAS, Professor Gurban Yetirmishli, Corresponding Member of ANAS, Professor Rashid Djavanshir, Deputy for Scientific Work of the RSSC, Ph.D. in the field of technical sciences, associate professor Rauf Muradov, head of the department “Dynamics of Earthquake Sources” of the RSSC, Ph.D. in the field of geology and mineralogy, associate professor Sabina Kazimova and head of the department “International Relations” Telman Djafarov.
The purpose of the visit is to present the results of existing collaborative work, discuss future directions for joint earthquake hazard research, and discuss the potential for wider collaboration in the region as part of the meeting funded by the UK Research Council.
It should be noted that joint seismological and paleoseismological research is being carried out between the Republican Seismic Survey Center of ANAS and the University of Oxford in the UK. In this regard, representatives of Oxford University visited Azerbaijan several times.
The visit of the delegation of Azerbaijani seismologists is also associated with business meetings held in the direction of continuing joint research.
At the meeting, Richard Walker, a professor at Oxford University, and Dylan Rood, an employee at Imperial College London, presented reports on paleoseismological research carried out in Azerbaijan.
The head of the department “Dynamics of Earthquake Sources” of the RSSC, Ph.D. in the field of geology and mineralogy, associate professor Sabina Kazimova, presented the results of joint research conducted by the Republican Seismic Survey Center of ANAS.
