Gadabay seismic station

Gedabek region is located in a zone of medium and high mountains of the Small Caucasus. 49m).

Historical monuments of XII - VII centuries in Gadabay region, as part of the culture of Khojaly - Gedabek, are part of the history of Azerbaijan.  There are historical monuments related to the end of the Bronze Age, as well as Beyukgala Tower, Tower Galakend (XVI century), Maiden's Tower, and built in the XIX century arched bridge. The deposits of copper ore were found in the middle of the XIX-th century. Gedabek region has reserves of gold and copper.  In the middle of the XIX century, the German company "Siemens" built here 2 copper smelters factory. In 1883, Imperial Russia built in Galakend first hydroelectric power station, thereby at copper smelting factory copper melted by electrolysis.

The area is dominated by sediments of Jurassic, Paleogene and anthropogenic periods and also the area is rich in natural resources.
