The RSSC hosted an event dedicated to September 27 - Memorial Day

On September 26, an event dedicated to September 27 - Memorial Day was held at the Republican Seismic Survey Center of ANAS.

After the performance of the national anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the participants of the event observed a minute of silence in memory of the Nationwide Leader of the Azerbaijani people, Heydar Aliyev, and the martyrs who gave their lives for the preservation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our country.

The General Director of the RSSC ANAS, Corresponding Member of ANAS, Professor Gurban Yetirmishli spoke at the memorial ceremony. Speaking about the historical tragedies of the Azerbaijani people, the disasters that befell our people in the last century, the political chaos in the country in the 90s of the last century and the occupation of our lands, Professor Gurban Yetirmishli noted that the 44-day Patriotic War and the 23-hour anti-terrorist operation carried out in September last year are inscribed in golden letters into the history of the Azerbaijani people.

"Because the Azerbaijani people, uniting in a fist around their Supreme Commander-in-Chief and the army, liberated their lands from the enemy's trampling. Although for more than 30 years, some world powers and pro-Armenian states have not allowed this conflict to be resolved. Thanks to the political will and determination of our Supreme Commander-in-Chief, the unity of the people and the unparalleled heroism of our victorious army - our heroic sons, soldiers and officers who served as an example for all peoples of the world, armies of the world - our lands were liberated from occupation. An end has been put to the 30-year occupation of our lands. During the 23-hour anti-terrorist operation that began on September 19 and ended on September 20 last year, our brave army fulfilled all its tasks with high professionalism, thereby fully restoring the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Historical justice has been restored. This historic victory was brought to us by our army under the leadership of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, our soldiers and officers, our martyrs and veterans. Each of us is grateful to them for this victory. Thanks to our glorious victory, today the National flag of the Republic of Azerbaijan is flying with greatness in all territories where our sovereignty is established," the General Director said, noting that as a sign of deep respect for our soldiers and officers, all martyrs who showed great heroism in the battles of the Patriotic War, who gave their lives on the path of the territorial integrity of our country, by the decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev dated December 2, 2020, September 27 is celebrated annually in the Republic of Azerbaijan as Memorial Day.

"Our martyrs are always with us, and today we honour their memory with great respect and pride," the professor said, wishing the mercy of Allah to our martyrs who died on the way to liberate lands and restore the sovereignty of the country, and health to our veterans.

The event ended with a demonstration of the video "You are always with us", prepared by the Department of Electronic Services of the RSSC, dedicated to the memory of our martyrs who died for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan.
