The RSSC held a meeting with representatives of the University of Oxford
Professor of Oxford University Richard Walker and senior researcher of Oxford University Ian Pearce are visiting Azerbaijan. On November 23, representatives of Oxford University visited the Republican Seismic Survey Center of ANAS. The meeting was attended by vice-president of ANAS, academician Ibrahim Guliyev, general director of the RSSC, corresponding member of ANAS, professor Gurban Yetirmishli, deputy general director of the RSSC for science, doctor of philosophy in technical sciences, associate professor Rauf Muradov, head of the department "International Relations" RSSC Telman Djafarov, and Vusala Rafiggizi, head of the "Information" department of the RSSC.
The general director of the RSSC, corresponding member of ANAS, professor Gurban Yetirmishli positively assessed the initiatives for bilateral cooperation and joint research between Oxford University and the Center, as well as the implementation of joint scientific projects, noting that there are real opportunities for cooperation. According to him, the parties held several online meetings on cooperation between Oxford University and the RSSC, during which the prospects for cooperation were discussed.
Professor of the Oxford University Richard Walker highly appreciated the research carried out by the RSSC ANAS, and noted that they are interested in the implementation of joint projects with the Center. He said that there are good opportunities for joint research and exchange of experience. Also, the guest did not exclude the possibility of joining the BP Company to the projects.
Then the guests were given a presentation on the work done by the Center. Sabina Kazimova, Ph.D. in geology and mineralogy, associate professor, head of the department "Dynamics of earthquake sources", spoke about the complex seismo geophysical studies carried out at the Center and the results obtained.
Richard Walker, professor at Oxford University, and Ian Pearce, university senior researcher, spoke about space images of faults on the Earth's surface after the earthquake and the information obtained as a result of their processing.
Having announced the possibility of joint cooperation in the field of paleoseismology, Professor of the University of Oxford Richard Walker did not exclude the possibility of conducting trainings for the employees of the Center.
At the end of the meeting, a memorable photo was taken and gifts were presented to the guests.
