The RSSC discussed the work done for 2021

On December 6, was held a meeting of the Scientific and Technical Council (STC) of the Republican Seismic Survey Center of ANAS. At the meeting, annual reports were presented on the results of research and production work carried out at the Center in 2021 by the relevant departments. According to the general director of the RSSC ANAS, corresponding member of ANAS, Professor Gurban Yetirmishli, in 2021 the organization continued comprehensive seismological and geophysical research. Also in 2021, 22 seismic stations purchased under an international grant project were delivered to the country. Three of them have already been installed. The installation of other seismic stations is in progress.

 

Referring to cooperation with foreign countries and seismological organizations, the general director said that the University of Oxford in the UK has come up with initiatives for cooperation and joint projects with the RSSC. Representatives of Oxford University visited our country and discussed issues of joint cooperation.

Speaking about cooperation between the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Turkey (AFAD) and the Department of Earthquakes of the Agency and RSSC, the general director noted the support of the brotherly country in the installation of seismic stations in Karabakh, as well as training of the Center's employees in Turkey, data transmission from seismic stations. He also said that agreements have been reached on these issues.

 

As for the installation of seismic stations in Karabakh, it was announced that the Center plans to install 10 seismic stations in Karabakh by 2025 and this work will begin as soon as appropriate conditions appear.

Then, reports were presented on the work done by the research departments of the Center in the seismological, geophysical, geochemical areas, as well as other administrative divisions.

The meeting also heard reports on the work done by the administrative divisions of the Center for the year.

The heads of the departments of the Center answered the questions of the participants.
