The RSSC discussed the results achieved in the first half of 2022

On July 14, a meeting of the Scientific and Technical Council of the Republican Seismic Survey Center of ANAS was held. The meeting was attended by members of the STC, heads of departments and employees of the Center. Speaking at the meeting of the Scientific and Technical Council, the generaldirector of the RSSC, Corresponding Member of ANAS, Professor Gurban Yetirmishli spoke about the main issues on the agenda.

 

The general director noted that the first half of 2022 was successful for the Center in the field of international cooperation.

Noting that representatives of Oxford University in the UK, together with the employees of the Center, are conducting research in Azerbaijan, the generaldirector also said that cooperation with fraternal Turkey has expanded.

It should be noted that the meeting presented the results of scientific research conducted by the relevant departments of the RSSC in the first half of 2022, as well as reports on the work done by the Center.

The head of the Bureau of Earthquake Research, Ph.D. in Earth Sciences, Saida Ismayilova, said in her speech that in the first half of 2022, a seismic analysis was carried out based on 42 digital data. For six months of the current year, the Bureau registered 5747 earthquakes. Of these, 1802 are local (territory of Azerbaijan), 1617 regional and 1627 remote earthquakes. Also, 701 explosions were registered in the six months of this year. 

It should be noted that in the first half of 2022, 20 earthquakes with a magnitude above 3 points were registered in Azerbaijan. 7 perceptible earthquakes have been recorded in Azerbaijan and adjacent regions.

Then the heads of departments of the RSSC spoke and presented their reports on the work done for the six months of 2022.

The discussion ended with answers to questions on the submitted reports, as well as the adoption of the reports themselves.
