The RSSC discussed the assessment of seismic risk in Baku
Representatives of the German company AS+P - Stephanie Vladka and Adem Tunca visited the Republican Seismic Survey Center of ANAS. The meeting was attended by the general director of the RSSC, corresponding member of ANAS, professor Gurban Yetirmishli, chief engineer Rauf Muradov, head of the "Seismology"department, doctor of geological and mineralogical sciences Tahir Mammadli and other employees of the Center.
Since the German project company AS+P is currently working on a general plan for the city of Baku, the focus of the meeting was on assessing seismic risk in Baku and the Absheron Peninsula.
The general director of the Republican Seismic Survey Center, Gurban Yetirmishli, informed the guests about the work carried out by the Center on seismic hazard assessment and seismic micro-zoning in Baku.
AS+P representative Stephanie Vladka said that seismic risk and vulnerable areas should be considered when developing a general plan for Baku. Factors affecting habitats near mud volcanoes should be considered. The parties also exchanged views on further cooperation.
