The RSSC delegation visited Georgia
On October 23-25, 2023, in Tbilisi, the capital of the Republic of Georgia, a meeting was held with the participation of delegations of partner countries on the project “Seismic network expansion in the Caucasus and Central Asia”, organized by the Science and Technology Center of Ukraine with the support of the National Nuclear Security Administration of the US Department of Energy. The meeting was attended by delegations from Azerbaijan, Georgia, the USA, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and other countries.
At the meeting, Azerbaijan was represented by a delegation consisting of RSSC employees headed by the General Director of the Republican Seismic Survey Center of ANAS, corresponding member of ANAS, Professor Gurban Yetirmishli. Sabina Kazimova, head of the “Dynamics of Earthquake Sources” department of the RSSC, doctor of philosophy in the field of geology and mineralogy, associate professor, spoke about the work done in Azerbaijan within the framework of the project “Seismic network expansion in the Caucasus and Central Asia.” After discussions between the partner countries, it was decided to extend the project implementation period by one year.
It should be noted that within the framework of the project “Seismic network expansion in the Caucasus and Central Asia,” 22 new seismic stations were installed in Azerbaijan.
