The project "Seismic networks of Central Asia and the Caucasus" was presented
The presentation of the project “Development of seismic networks in Central Asia and the Caucasus” was held at the Republican Seismic Survey Center of ANAS with the support of the Science and Technology Center of Ukraine. Visiting Baku, USA Seismic Cooperation Program Manager, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Rengin Gök, director of the Tbilisi State University named after I.Chavchavadze, Institute of Earth Sciences, Tea Godoladze, director of Instrumentation Services IRIS Robert Woodward met with the general director, corresponding member of ANAS, Professor Gurban Yetirmishli. During the meeting, issues of joint cooperation, exchange of experience were discussed.
Rengin Gök presented the project “Development of seismic networks in Central Asia and the Caucasus”.
General director of the RSSC Gurban Yetirmishli stressed that the project’s goal is to support the development of seismic stations in Central Asia and the Caucasus.
Noting that seismic stations are still being installed in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea, the general director did not rule out the possibility of providing some support to Azerbaijan in the framework of this project.
Speaking of seismic networks in Central Asia and the Caucasus, Rengin Gök, USA Seismic Cooperation Program Manager, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, noted that the situation is different in each country. She also noted that the seismic network in Azerbaijan is more modern than in other countries. “We want to help you develop new programs and other innovations on the web,” said Gök.
Further the deputy of the head of Bureau of Earthquake Research at the RSSC, Rugiya Kerimova, presented a report on the activities of the Azerbaijani network of seismic stations, the programs implemented, the results and the work done.
