The head of the RSSC department took part in a study conducted in Kyrgyzstan
Within the framework of the international NATO project, on July 22-30, paleoseismological field work was carried out in the mountain ranges of the Northern Tien Shan of the Kyrgyz Republic to determine the activity of the Aksu fault and its connection with the 1911 earthquake. Azerbaijan was represented in the joint study by Sabina Kazimova, doctor of philosophy in the field of geological and mineralogical sciences, associate professor, head of the department "Dynamics of earthquake sources" of the RSSC ANAS. Employees of the University of Oxford, Great Britain, the University of Arizona (USA), the University of California (USA), the Kyrgyz Institute of Seismology, the University of Marseilles (France), as well as representatives of Kazakhstan and Mongolia, also took part in the field work.
The fieldwork was led by Professor Richard Walker of the University of Oxford and Professor Ramon Arrowsmith of the University of Arizona.
