Sumgayit schoolchildren visited the RSSC
Educational events on the topic “Rules of behaviour during an earthquake” dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of Nationwide Leader Heydar Aliyev continue at the Republican Seismic Survey Center of ANAS.
On November 1, students of secondary school No.29 named after Tofig Ismayilov in Sumgayit visited the Monitoring Center of the Republican Seismic Survey Center of ANAS. During the excursion, the head of the Bureau of Earthquake Research of the RSSC, Doctor of Philosophy in the field of Earth Sciences, Saida Ismayilova, spoke about earthquakes, their causes, and processing of data recorded during earthquakes. The head of the department “Dynamics of Earthquake Sources,” Doctor of Philosophy in Geology and Mineralogy, Associate Professor Sabina Kazimova, spoke about the mechanisms of earthquake sources, mud volcanoes and the impact of earthquakes on mud volcanoes. The head of the “Geodynamics” department, Doctor of Philosophy in the field of geology and mineralogy, associate professor Ilyas Kazimov told schoolchildren about the GPS stations operating in Azerbaijan, data processing and the results obtained.
Senior researcher at the Bureau of Earthquake Research, Doctor of Philosophy in the field of Earth Sciences Shirin Islamova explained to schoolchildren the rules of behaviour during an earthquake. The schoolchildren were clearly shown how a wave is recorded during an earthquake.
