RSSC employees visited Turkey
According to the Protocol of the Agreement signed between the Republican Seismic Survey Center of ANAS and the Department of Earthquakes of the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, on December 20-26, the head of the “Macroseismic researches” department RSSC, Ph.D. in geology and mineralogy, associate professor Eytibar Garaveliyev, head of the department "Dynamics of earthquake sources" RSSC, Ph.D. in geology and mineralogy, associate professor Sabina Kazimova, head of the department "Geodynamics" RSSC, Ph.D. in geology and mineralogy, associate professor Ilyas Kazimov, as well as employees of the Center Lala Piriyeva and Gulnar Huseynzade paid a visit to the Republic of Turkey.
During the visit, RSSC employees met with Yunus Sezer, President of the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) of the Turkish Ministry of Internal Affairs. Prospects for further cooperation of seismological centers of the two fraternal countries were discussed at the meeting. The employees of the Center got acquainted with the seismic data processing system and the AFAD warning system in the Department of Earthquakes.
Head of AFAD Department of Earthquakes, Professor Murad Nurlu, head of Earthquake Monitoring System Vedat Ozsarach, Department employees - Kudret Tekin, Meltem Turkoglu, Fatih Alver and other specialists conducted trainings for RSSC employees in the field of modern seismic analysis. Ankara University Professor Bahadir Aktug conducted training on Kolombo and GNSS stress analysis.
During the visit, the RSSC employees visited the AFAD stations "Akyurt" and "Gokche" and got acquainted with the work of the stations.
Note that next year, the Turkish side will provide Azerbaijan with a deep drilling station, which will be installed in mid-2022. According to the agreement between the parties, data from 10 seismic stations in Turkey in the field of information exchange will be transferred to the RSSC Monitoring Center. Also, cooperation with the AFAD Department of Earthquakes begins in the installation of seismic stations in Karabakh.
