RSSC employees took part in the Republican conference and seminar

On December 19-20, 2023, a Republican scientific conference dedicated to the 85th anniversary of Academician Vasif Babazadeh on the topic “Geology: the unity of theory and practice” was held at the Baku State University.

The scientific conference was attended by the General Director of the Republican Seismic Survey Center of ANAS, Corresponding Member of ANAS, Professor Gurban Yetirmishli and employees of the Center.

Speaking at the opening of the conference, General Director of the Republican Seismic Survey Center of ANAS, Corresponding Member of ANAS, Professor Gurban Yetirmishli congratulated Academician Vasif Babazadeh on his 85th birthday, noting his great contribution to the development of geological science in Azerbaijan. Professor Gurban Yetirmishli said that Vasif Babazadeh was one of his teachers; the geologist devoted his entire life to the development of Azerbaijani science and education.

Professor Gurban Yetirmishli wished Academician Vasif Babazadeh good health and success in his future activities.

On the second day of the conference, presentations were made by the acting head of the Magnetometry department, Nadirshakh Khanbabayev, on “Gravimagnetometric studies carried out in geodynamic test sites created in Azerbaijan, and future prospects”, leading researcher of the department of "Scientific analysis of seismological and geophysical research", Yagub Akhmedov - “On some seismological issues of seismic resistance of buildings and structures”, researcher at the department of “Engineering Geology and Seismic Microzoning” Afag Samadzadeh - “Assessment of engineering-geological conditions of construction sites in the Yasamal and Sabayil regions”, engineer of the department “Geodynamics” Aysel Guluyeva - “Changing characteristics of seismomagnetic impact before the earthquakes in Lerik and Guba in 2018.”

In addition, on December 19, 2023, employees of the Republican Seismic Survey Center of ANAS took part in the II international seminar on the topic “Localization of dynamic oil leaks in the Caspian and world waters” held at the Academy of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

At the seminar, employees of the department “Dynamics of Earthquake Sources” of the Republican Seismic Survey Center of ANAS made presentations. Arzu Mammadova made a report on “Modern seismic geodynamics of the Caspian Sea”, and Narmin Takhlatly made a report on “Geological characteristics of oil and gas fields located in the Caspian megazone, assessment of the stress state around the fields.”

RSSC employees were awarded certificates from the organizers.
