Representatives of the University of Oxford made presentations at the RSSC
On November 25 at the Republican Seismic Survey Center of ANASProfessor of Oxford University of Great Britain Richard Walker and researcher of Oxford University Ian Pearce made presentations for employees of institutes and scientific organizations that are part of the Department of Earth Sciences of ANAS, on scientific research in the field of Earth sciences carried out by Oxford University, as well as related to the project to be implemented in Azerbaijan.
According to the general director of the RSSC, corresponding member of ANAS, Professor Gurban Yetirmishli, the Oxford University intends to establish close cooperation with institutes and scientific organizations included in the Department of Earth Sciences of ANAS. In this regard, the parties have been holding online meetings and discussions for a long time, he said, adding that the visit of representatives of Oxford University to Azerbaijan is of a familiarization nature. G.Yetirmishli also noted that the British guests visited Shemakha-Ismayilli district and visited the research sites.
At the event, Professor of the Oxford University Richard Walker presented a report on the results of scientific research on historical earthquakes and active faults in Central Asia.
It should be noted that the report used information on active faults on the Earth after earthquakes, obtained as a result of satellite imagery. The British scientist said that they intend to conduct joint research in this direction with research institutes in Azerbaijan.
Ian Pearce, a scientific researcher of the University of Oxford, presented a report on the work to be carried out in Azerbaijan within the framework of the project.
After the presentations, the British guests answered the questions of the participants.
