Professor of Victoria University (Canada) Tuna Onur and Director of the Center for Seismological Monitoring of Georgia Thea Godoladze are on a visit to Azerbaijan

Professor of Victoria University (Canada) Tuna Onur, director of the Center for Seismological Monitoring of the Institute of Earth Sciences of the Ilya Georgian State University, Professor Thea Godoladze and an employee of the Center Albert Vuzaladze visited Azerbaijan.

As part of the visit, on October 24, the guests visited the Republican Seismic Survey Center of ANAS. Rauf Muradov, executive director of RSSC ANAS, Associate Professor, said that the event will present a new model developed by Professor Tuna Onur for Azerbaijan, concerning innovations in the field of seismicity assessment in construction and the study of factors influencing seismicity assessment.

Professor of Victoria University (Canada) Tuna Onur spoke to the employees of the Center with a report “A new model for assessing seismic risk in Azerbaijan”. In her report, the professor spoke about seismic risk assessment methods currently used in the construction of buildings in countries around the world. In her report, she also mentioned innovations in the field of building codes.

At the meeting, the leading researcher of the RSSC ANAS, Ph.D. in geology and mineralogy Shahbeddin Musayev presented a report on the geological structure of the territory of Azerbaijan, as well as drained areas and faults on the surface of the earth in the Caspian Sea.

Director of the Center for Seismological Monitoring of the Institute of Earth Sciences of the Ilya Georgian State University, Professor Thea Godoladze spoke about the work done within the framework of the Seismic Network Expansion in the Caucasus and Central Asia project and issues of joint cooperation between the two countries.

Later, clarity was introduced on issues of interest to the participants.

It should be noted that professor of Victoria University (Canada) Tuna Onur, will hold official meetings in a number of state institutions during the visit.
