Oxford University Professor Richard Walker is on a visit to Baku

Professor of the Oxford University of Great Britain Richard Walker is on a visit to Azerbaijan.

On January 15, the guest met with the Vice-President of ANAS, Head of the Department of Earth Sciences of ANAS, Academician Ibrahim Guliyev and the General Director of the Republican Seismic Survey Center of ANAS, Corresponding Member of ANAS, Professor Gurban Yetirmishli. The meeting was also attended by the head of the RSSC department "Dynamics of Earthquake Sources", Doctor of Philosophy of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences, Associate Professor Sabina Kazimova and the head of the RSSC department "International Relations" Telman Djaferov.

During the discussions, issues of bilateral cooperation between the University of Oxford in the UK and the Republican Seismic Survey Center of ANAS, as well as joint scientific research and implementation of projects were touched upon.

The meeting also discussed paleoseismological results obtained from samples taken from trenches dug during joint research carried out by employees of the University of Oxford in the UK and the RSSC last year in the Salyan and Goychay regions.

Issues of interest were discussed, a memorable photo was taken, and a gift was presented to the guest.

It should be noted that in order to further expand bilateral cooperation, a familiarization visit of the Azerbaijani delegation to Oxford University is planned in April this year.
