New seismic stations to be installed in Azerbaijan
In order to improve the quality of seismological surveys conducted on the territory of the republic, the Republican Seismic Survey Center of ANAS intends to establish another 22 seismic stations. The 14 stations that will be installed under the “Expansion of seismic network in Caucasus” project will be installed along the coastal regions of the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea and 6 stations around mud volcanoes.
Currently, the country has 35 permanent seismic stations of the RSSC. In addition, 17 stations, as well as 10 Basalt stationary seismic stations, which record tremors, are operating during the "Caucasian transect" project. After the installation of new stations, a total of 84 seismic stations will operate in the country.
It should be noted that during the RSSC researches as a result of negotiations, the data are provided by 3 seismic stations of the Georgian Seismological Survey Center and 2 seismic stations in Turkey located in the border zone.
