International seismological conference concluded in Baku

On May 15, the international conference “Seismic hazard updates in the Caucasus and implications for modern engineering practices” ended in Baku. On the last day of the conference, participants held a broad discussion of reports presented by seismological scientists from partner countries who participated in the discussions. Issues of further cooperation between the parties were also discussed. Speaking at the closing ceremony, General Director of the Republican Seismic Survey Center of ANAS, Corresponding Member of ANAS, Professor Gurban Yetirmishli highly appreciated the results of the discussions. Noting that such events are important from the point of view of studying the experience of partner countries, the General Director of the RSSC noted that such meetings are also important from the point of view of the development of the science of seismology.

At the event Kahraman Kuchkarov, head of the Republican Center for Seismic Monitoring of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Professor of the University of Missouri (USA) Eric Sandvol, Director of the Center for Seismological Monitoring of the Institute of Earth Sciences of the Georgian State University named after Ilia, Professor Tea Godoladze, Professor of the Canadian University of Victoria Tuna Onur, representative of the international seismological organization IRIS Andrea Chang, Deputy General Director of the RSSC for scientific work, Doctor of Philosophy in the field of technical sciences, Associate Professor Rauf Muradov, head of the Seismology department of the RSSC, Doctor of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences Tahir Mammadli spoke and expressed their opinion on the presented reports.

At the end, the participants took a memorable photo and at this point the three-day international conference completed its work.
