Georgian seismologists visited Azerbaijan
Representatives of the Institute of Earth Sciences and the Seismic Monitoring Centre of the Ilia State University, Georgia, under the leadership of the director of the Institute, Professor Tea Godoladze, are on a visit to Azerbaijan.
Within the framework of the visit, a meeting with Georgian guests was held at the Republican Seismic Survey Center of ANAS. The meeting was attended by Vice-President of ANAS, head of the Department of Earth Sciences, Academician Ibrahim Guliyev, general director of the Republican Seismic Survey Center of ANAS, corresponding member of ANAS, Professor Gurban Yetirmishli, deputy general director for science, doctor of philosophy in technical sciences, associate professor Rauf Muradov. During the meeting, issues of bilateral cooperation and joint participation in international projects were discussed. General director of the RSSC ANAS, corresponding member of ANAS, Professor Gurban Yetirmishli told the guests in detail about the installation of 22 seismic stations delivered to our country within the framework of an international grant project.

The general director also said that so far there is no experience in the world of studying processes in mud volcanoes using seismic stations. The stations to be installed around mud volcanoes will be the first in Azerbaijan.
Professor Tea Godoladze, head of the Institute of Earth Sciences and the Seismic Monitoring Centre of Ilia State University, noted that seismic exploration in Azerbaijan is carried out at a high level, noting that the quality of surveys will increase after the installation of new stations.
Noting that the RSSC and the Institute of Earth Sciences and the Seismic Monitoring Centre of the Ilia State University of Georgia have been cooperating for many years, Tea Godoladze said that the parties regularly exchange information, experience and carry out mutual visits.
Vice-President of ANAS, Head of the Department of Earth Sciences, Academician Ibrahim Guliyev noted that the expansion of cooperation between seismological centres of the countries of the region is important from the point of view of studying the seismicity of the region and obtaining new scientific results.
