Employees of the RSSC and the University of Oxford Great Britain began a joint research
The employees of the Oxford University of Great Britain - Ph.D. in Earthquakes and Active Tectonics - Hale Marshall, Ben Johnson and Ian Pierce, Ph.D. candidate in the field of Active Tectonics, are in Azerbaijan.
The purpose of the visit is to conduct joint research with the employees of the Republican Seismic Survey Center of ANAS in the field of studying seismicity and tectonic activity of the territory of Azerbaijan in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences and Oxford University.
It should be noted that joint paleoseismological studies will be carried out in Goychay, Ismayilli, Aghsu districts, Shirvan city and Salyan district. The joint work has already begun and will last until May 21. The purpose of the study is to identify tectonic faults in the territory of Azerbaijan, which may pose a serious seismic threat to infrastructure and the population.
