Employees of the Republican Seismic Survey Center of ANAS and the Institute of Geology of the Russian Academy of Sciences will conduct joint research

On November 16, employees of the Institute of Geology of the Russian Academy of Sciences - senior researcher, candidate of geographical sciences Yaroslav Trikhunkov, junior researchers Vyacheslav Lomov and Kirill Yushin visited the Republican Seismic Survey Center of ANAS.

The meeting was attended by the General Director of the RSSC, Corresponding Member of ANAS, Professor Gurban Yetirmishli, Executive Director of the RSSC, Doctor of Philosophy in Technical Sciences, Associate Professor Rauf Muradov, head of the “Seismology” department, Doctor of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences Tahir Mammadli, head of the “Dynamics of earthquake sources” department, Doctor of Philosophy of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences, Associate Professor Sabina Kazimova and head of the “International Relations” department Telman Jafarov.

General Director of the RSSC, Corresponding Member of ANAS, Professor Gurban Yetirmishli noted that there are real opportunities for cooperation, as well as the positive possibility of conducting joint scientific research between the Institute of Geology of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Center.

It should be noted that from November 16 to 30, russian geologists, together with employees of the Republican Seismic Survey Center of ANAS, will conduct field work in the Lankaran, Masalli, Jalilabad, Saatli and Salyan regions. The purpose of the research was to identify and parameterize active faults in the Talysh zone, as well as search for signs of recent displacements along active faults in mountainous areas and coastal plains.
