Discussions between young seismologists of Azerbaijan and Great Britain were held

The Republican Seismic Survey Center of ANAS and the Oxford and Cambridge Universities of the United Kingdom jointly organized discussions on the topic "Joint research on active tectonics and earthquakes in Azerbaijan and the South Caspian." Participation in joint projects of young scientists from Azerbaijan and Great Britain was discussed at the meeting.
In online discussions on the Zoom platform, Azerbaijan was represented by deputy of general director for science, doctor of philosophy in technical sciences, associate professor Rauf Muradov, head of the “International Relations” department of the RSSC Telman Djafarov, head of the “Dynamics of earthquake sources” department of the RSSC, doctor of philosophy in geological and mineralogical sciences, associate professor Sabina Kazimova.
The meeting was moderated by Rashid Djavanshir, representative of Oxford University and Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences.
Employees of the Institute of Geology and Geophysics of ANAS Rafik Safarov and Orkhan Abbasov also took part in the discussions.
Sabina Kazimova, doctor of philosophy in geological and mineralogical sciences, associate professor, head of the "Dynamics of earthquake sources" department of the RSSC ANAS spoke in detail about the work done at the RSSC and answered questions of interest.
Then the employees of the Institute of Geology and Geophysics Rafik Safarov, a leading researcher in the department of “Modern geodynamics and space geodesy”, and Orkhan Abbasov, a leading researcher in the department of “Mud volcanism”, spoke about the importance of developing “a roadmap” for joint research.
During the discussions, issues on areas of cooperation were considered in working order, and it was decided to hold the next meeting to report on the work done.
The general coordinator of the project, Professor Richard Walker, also attended the meeting.
