Azerbaijani and Japanese seismologists can begin joint research in the Caspian Sea

Vice-President of the Japanese company OYO Toti Hakada, chief engineer Eiti Uoide and Secretary Sumiuo Ogo are visiting Azerbaijan. The guests met with the general director of the Republican Seismic Survey Center of ANAS, corresponding member of ANAS, Professor Gurban Yetirmishli. During the meeting, it was noted that OYO and the Republican Seismic Survey Center have been cooperating for many years, and the parties are interested in further expanding of it.

The general director of the RSSC, corresponding member of ANAS Gurban Yetirmishli informed the guests about the research carried out by the Center and proposed to implement joint regional projects, as well as to continue cooperation. The general director noted that cooperation is beneficial to both parties.

During the negotiations, the support of Japanese experts in conducting joint seismological surveys in the Caspian Sea and the installation of RSSC bottom seismic stations was also touched upon.

OYO Vice President Toti Hakada welcomed the proposal for joint cooperation in the Caspian Sea and said that the project could be developed in this direction. Noting that Japanese bottom stations operate in the ocean, the guest said that the installation of bottom stations in the Caspian Sea will have a positive impact on the quality of seismological studies in Azerbaijan.

At the meeting, Toti Hakada invited the general director of the RSSC to the Tokyo International Seismological Symposium, which will be held in September 2020. The invitation was accepted by the general director of the RSSC. The parties also exchanged views on new equipment and technologies currently used in seismological studies around the world.
