An event dedicated to the memory of the martyrs of the Patriotic War was held at the Republican Seismic Survey Center
On September 24, at the Republican Seismic Survey Center of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, an event entitled "The Motherland called you son ..." took place, dedicated to the memory of our martyrs who gave their lives for the territorial integrity of our country. First, the participants honored the memory of the martyrs with a minute of silence. Speaking at the event, General director of the RSSC ANAS, Corresponding Member of ANAS, Professor Gurban Yetirmishli noted that our neighbors have historically carried out an insidious policy towards Azerbaijan, recalling that at the end of the last century, Armenians occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijani lands.
“We have been waiting for a peaceful resolution of this conflict for 30 years. However, on September 27 last year, the armed forces of Armenia attacked Azerbaijan from all sides, violating the state border, which led to the start of the Patriotic War. In this war, the entire Azerbaijani people united around their Supreme Commander-in-Chief, his army. As a result of the 44-day war, hundreds of our villages and occupied areas were liberated under the leadership of our Supreme Commander. Shusha, the crown of Karabakh, was liberated from the enemy, ”the General director said.
As a result of the 44-day war, the Armenian army was completely destroyed thanks to the Azerbaijani army under the leadership of our Supreme Commander, our brave soldiers, and as a result the enemy was forced to accept defeat.
“Of course, we also had losses in this war,” he said, noting that during the war there were casualties both among the military and among the civilian population. “Even during the war, the enemy continued its vandalism and launched prohibited missiles at civilian areas. As a result of the launch of prohibited missiles in Gandja, Barda and Terter, there are martyrs among civilians who have become victims of Armenian vandalism. We pray for all our martyrs and wish our veterans a speedy recovery, ”said the general director. "Sixteen employees of the Center took part in the Karabakh war, and the children of two employees died in the war."
Major Garay Asadov, head of the seismic station Barda RSSC, a participant in the First Karabakh War and the Patriotic War, said in his speech that no nation in the world has demonstrated unity as the Azerbaijani people in the Patriotic War. “This war was different from the previous one,” he said. “Our army was provided with the most modern weapons and ammunition, and the Azerbaijani soldier was fully prepared for battle. The people of Azerbaijan have also rallied around their army, soldier, and Supreme Commander-in-Chief. If one of the reasons for winning a war is the presence of a regular and combat army, then another factor is high morale.
Our people are very brave. Despite our losses, the Azerbaijani people remained optimistic and won the war. ” G.Asadov also shared his memories of the war with the participants.
Eytibar Garavaliyev, chairman of the RSSC trade union, head of the Macroseismic Research Department, Ph.D. in geology and mineralogy, said that the social problems of war veterans and martyr families working at the RSSC are always in the center of the union's attention. On the eve of the Day of Remembrance, the trade union of the Center provided another material assistance to war veterans and families of martyrs.
The event ended with the screening of a documentary film dedicated to the participants of the Patriotic War, our martyrs and veterans, the author of which is the participant of the Patriotic War, employee of the Center Sarvat Gurbanzade.
