An event dedicated to the 101st anniversary of the birth of Nationwide Leader Heydar Aliyev was held at the RSSC

On May 8, an event dedicated to the 101st anniversary of the birth of Nationwide Leader Heydar Aliyev was held at the Republican Seismic Survey Center of ANAS. A minute of silence was held to honour the memory of Nationwide Leader Heydar Aliyev and our martyrs who died in the struggle for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.

At the event, the head of the “Electronic Services” department of the RSSC ANAS, Vusala Rafiggizi, made a report on the life and political activities of the founder of the modern Azerbaijani state, Heydar Aliyev. Noting that during the leadership of Heydar Aliyev in the 60-70s of the last century, our country was at the forefront of post-Soviet republics in its development, the head of the department said that Heydar Aliyev was the only Azerbaijani who held a high position in the government of the former USSR. In her speech, Vusala Rafiggizi also spoke in detail about the political chaos that arose in our country in the early 90s of the last century, threats to the statehood of Azerbaijan, and the occupation of our lands.

In 1993, after Nationwide Leader Heydar Aliyev came to power at the request of the people, the head of the department noted that the political crisis in Azerbaijan had been resolved and our country had embarked on the path of economic development.

Vusala Rafiggizi also spoke about the role of Nationwide Leader Heydar Aliyev in the development of seismology in Azerbaijan, as well as in the creation of the most modern network of seismic stations in our country. According to the head of the department, who noted the great work of Nationwide Leader Heydar Aliyev in the development of seismology in Azerbaijan, although the financial capabilities of Azerbaijan at that time were small, after the Baku earthquake on November 25, 2000, modern seismic equipment and stations were obtained. After the acquisition of new stations, a new network of seismic stations was created in Azerbaijan, and today our country is at the forefront of the world in terms of the level of seismological research conducted. Vusala Rafiggizi reported that even today the development of seismology in Azerbaijan is in the focus of attention of the country's leadership.

Speaking about her memories of Heydar Aliyev, the head of the department noted that she worked in a group of journalists who accompanied the Nationwide Leader Heydar Aliyev during his work in the media, saying: “I am one of the lucky ones who knew the Nationwide Leader and had communication with him. We, journalists, travelled with him several times. We witnessed the Nationwide Leader’s speeches at international venues and meetings with our people during his visits to the cities of internally displaced persons and refugees. “Heydar Aliyev, in addition to being a great personality and an outstanding political leader, was also a genius whose heart always beat with his people,” she said.

Noting that the political course of Nationwide Leader Heydar Aliyev in all areas was successfully continued by Respected President Ilham Aliyev, Vusala Rafiggizi said that one of the greatest desires of the Nationwide Leader is the liberation of Karabakh. “Our Nationwide Leader, in all his speeches and meetings, during meetings with internally displaced persons and during foreign trips, always said with great confidence that Karabakh will be free. Today Karabakh is completely liberated. Azerbaijan has ensured its territorial integrity. Our flag flutters proudly everywhere in Karabakh - both in our cities and in our villages. As Mr. President Ilham Aliyev stated in his address to the people on the liberation of Shusha, the will of the Nationwide Leader was realized thanks to the political will and determination of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Azerbaijani people, thanks to the soldiers and officers of our glorious army, to our martyrs and veterans who gave their lives for every inch of land, the 30-year occupation was completed.

Today is the eighth of May. Once upon a time, we, the Azerbaijani people, celebrated this date on the calendar with great sadness. Today is a historic day. The resettlement of the population to Shusha begins today. On such a wonderful day, the birthday of Nationwide Leader Heydar Aliyev, who dedicated his entire life to Azerbaijan, is celebrated. I am sure that the souls of our Nationwide Leader and our martyrs are laid to rest today. We always remember Nationwide Leader Heydar Aliyev with deep respect.”
