American seismologists arrived in Azerbaijan in connection with the implementation of the "Caucasian transect" project

Work continues within the framework of the joint project of the Republican Seismic Survey Center of ANAS, the University of Missouri and the Scientific and Technical Center of Ukraine "Caucasian transect". In this regard, American seismologists - Professor of the University of Missouri Eric Sandvol, as well as scientists from the University Utku Kochum and Oguzkhan Yalvach arrived in Azerbaijan.

During the visit of American experts, several temporary stations will be moved in accordance with the project's program. Also, one (1) temporary seismic station will be installed in Udjar district, four (4) in Agdjabedi district and one (1) in Fizuli district. In addition, with the participation of American experts, data from temporary stations located in the regions will be sent for processing.

During the visit, the delegation supervised by Eric Sandvol will discuss seismic tomography with the employees of the RSSC, as well as the processing of the collected data. The visit will also include maintenance of seismic stations.

It should be noted that the main goal of the "Caucasian transect" project is to carry out seismic tomography in Azerbaijan. The project was launched in 2017.
