A meeting of the Geosciences department was held at the RSSC
On February 1, at the Republican Seismic Survey Center of ANAS, a discussion was held of the interim and final reports on the research work of the Department of Earth Sciences carried out in 2023.
The meeting was attended by the executive director of the RSSC, Doctor of Philosophy in the field of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor Rauf Muradov and the heads of the specialized departments of the Center. Executive Director of the RSSC, Doctor of Philosophy of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor Rauf Muradov said that the purpose of the meeting is to discuss the final reports of comprehensive seismological, geophysical, geodynamic studies conducted in 2023.
At the meeting, head of the department “Dynamics of Earthquake Sources” of the RSSC, Doctor of Philosophy in the field of Geology and Mineralogy, Associate Professor Sabina Kazimova, Executive Director of the RSSC, Doctor of Philosophy of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor Rauf Muradov, Head of the Bureau of Earthquake Research, Doctor of Philosophy of Earth Sciences Saida Ismayilova, head of the department of “Geodynamics”, Doctor of Philosophy in the field of Geology and Mineralogy, Associate Professor Ilyas Kazimov and Aybeniz Keramova, Senior Researcher of the department of “Complex Geochemical Research”, presented a jointly prepared report on the topic “Study of seismicity and seismotectonics of the territory of Azerbaijan, including territories liberated from occupation (2021-2025)” (scientific supervisor: corresponding member of ANAS, professor Gurban Yetirmishli).
Next, the reports were presented by Associate Professor Sabina Kazimova “Determination of epicentral zones of historical earthquakes in the Greater Caucasus using paleoseismological data (2023-2024)”, “The role of anomalies of fluid-hydrogeochemical fields in modern geodynamics (2023-2024)”, Associate Professor Ilyas Kazimov “Modern geodynamics of Turkey, Northern Iran and the Caucasus region based on GPS data (including the territory of Karabakh) (2021-2023)", head of the department of Macroseismic Research, Doctor of Philosophy in Geology and Mineralogy, Associate Professor Eytibar Garaveliyev "Study of factors determining seismic hazard on the territory of the Absheron Peninsula (2021-2024)”, acting head of the “Magnetometry” department Nadirshakh Khanbabayev on the topic “Comprehensive geophysical studies of the territory of Azerbaijan (2021-2025)”.
The meeting ended with a discussion of the presented reports.
