A meeting of the Earth Sciences section was held at the RSSC

On October 10, a reporting meeting of scientific and research-and-production works carried out in 2023 during 9 months of the year was held at the Republican Seismic Survey Center of ANAS.

The meeting was attended by the executive director of the RSSC, doctor of philosophy in technical sciences, associate professor Rauf Muradov, head of the “Seismology” department, doctor of geological and mineralogical sciences Tahir Mammadli and heads of specialized departments of the Center. According to the head of the “Seismology” department, Tahir Mammadli, the purpose of the meeting was to discuss the results of comprehensive seismological, geophysical and geodynamic studies conducted at the Center during 9 months of this year.

Presentations were made by Shirin Islamova, senior researcher at the Earthquake Research Bureau of the RSSC, doctor of philosophy in Earth Sciences - “Features of seismicity in Azerbaijan and adjacent regions”, head of the department “Dynamics of earthquake sources”, doctor of philosophy in geology and mineralogy, associate professor Sabina Kazimova – “On the study of earthquake sources, monitoring of mud volcanoes and the activities of the International Seismic Tomography Laboratory”, head of the department “Geodynamics”, doctor of philosophy in geology and mineralogy, associate professor Ilyas Kazimov - “Geodynamics of the territory of Azerbaijan according to GPS data”, head of the department “Macroseismic studies”, doctor of philosophy in geology and mineralogy, associate professor Eytibar Garaveliyev - “Macroseismic studies” , Lala Fattakhova, acting head of the department "Engineering seismology and seismic microzoning" - "Engineering seismological research", Nadirshakh Khanbabaev, acting head of the department "Magnetometry" - "Magnetometric research", Elchin Baghirov, head of the department "Gravimetry" - "Gravimetric research" and researcher at the department "Complex Geochemical Research" Aybeniz Keramova - "Complex Geochemical Research".

The meeting ended with a discussion of the presented reports.
