An online meeting was held between the heads of the RSSC and the Department of Earthquakes of the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Turkey (AFAD)

On October 11, an online meeting was held between representatives of the Department of Earthquakes of the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Turkey (AFAD) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Turkey, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republican Seismic Survey Center of ANAS. The meeting, held on the Zoom platform, was attended by the head of the Department of Earthquakes of the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Turkey (AFAD) Vali Yunus Sezer, the general manager of the Department of Earthquakes of the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Turkey (AFAD), Professor Orkhan Tatar, the head of the Earthquake Observation System of the Department of Earthquakes Vedat Ozsarach, general director of RSSC ANAS, Corresponding Member of ANAS, Professor Gurban Yetirmishli, executive director, Doctor of Philosophy in Technical Sciences, Associate Professor Rauf Muradov, head of the department of “Dynamics of Earthquake Sources”, PhD in Geology and Mineralogy, Associate Professor Sabina Kazimova, head of the department of “International Relations” Telman Djafarov, head of the department of “Information” Vusala Rafiggizi, employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations Alasgar Aliyev and Djavid Zeynal-zade.

                   

During the meeting, discussions were held on expanding cooperation between the two fraternal countries in the field of seismology, mutual exchange of data from seismic stations, installation of a seismic station donated to Azerbaijan by the AFAD Department of Earthquakes and planned to be installed around the city of Shusha. Professor Orkhan Tatar, the general manager of the Department of Earthquakes of the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Turkey (AFAD), informed the participants of the meeting about the current state of seismological relations between the two countries.

             

According to the general director of RSSC ANAS, Corresponding Member of ANAS, Professor Gurban Yetirmishli, deepening relations with Turkey in the seismological field is one of the main priorities of the RSSC. The general director also touched upon the installation of a seismic station provided by Turkey in the vicinity of the city of Shusha. According to him, the impossibility of completely eliminating the mine danger in the liberated territories hinders the work of the Center for the installation of seismic stations in Karabakh.

                     

The head of the Department of Earthquakes of the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Turkey (AFAD) Vali Yunus Sezer said that the station to be handed over to Azerbaijan is ready, and AFAD representatives will soon visit Azerbaijan to conduct technical discussions on the installation of this station. During the discussions, the choice of the station installation site around Shusha, the mutual exchange of station data and other issues of interest were also clarified.
